Just a three hour flight from London, Marrakech, also spelt Marrakesh, is the perfect winter sun escape. It’s a cultural feast for the senses, with a boujee party scene and a nation obsessed with tea and tagine! Fast forward to February 2025, and the craving for rooftops and sunshine close to London took over. This time, I found a whole new appreciation for this red city. I’m not sure if it’s because I was more prepared for the medina or if…

But I have in fact, like many, fact got duel citizenship by birthright. How did I not know this? And surprisingly, it seems…

Explore Las Palmas Las Palmas is the capital of Gran Canaria and really has it all: a beautiful sandy beach, plenty of cafes and restaurants and a wonderful old town to wander around. It’s the perfect starting point if you want everything to be within walking distance. Our first stop in Las Palmas was Playa de Las Canteras, a 3 km long stretch of golden sand. Perfect for a morning walk, feeling the sun on our faces and the sand between our toes was heavenly. To make it even better, there are plenty of places to stop along the promenade…
