pampanga, the region that gave us dishes like bacon and sisig, is the focus of Philippine Food Week 2025, producing a wide variety of limited-time specials until October 25. Twenty-five O’ahu restaurants are in the mix, doubling from last year—a huge success and a promising omen for long-running local cuisine.
Reflecting a slow-burn trend, there are new Filipino restaurants on the lineup, including pop-up ILaya, Filipino-themed coffee cart Panday and Yumyum Tumtum, which opened in Kāne’ohe two weeks ago. They join traditional Filipino restaurants and a wide range of other restaurants with the challenge of creating eclectic special dishes.
So you will find sisig terrine at Pai Honolulu. Palabok ravioli at Skull & Crown Trading Co. Marinated pork pizza at Pizza Press. Duck marinated at MW Restaurant. And even several Filipino-themed prix fixe menus. Plus a banana jack Danish lumpia at Beyond Pastry, a bacon fried rice omelet with lechon at Elena’s Filipino Restaurant, pancit Canton at Mama’s Boy, and at least eight versions of halo halo, by our count.
All of these are on O’ahu. Maui joins three participating restaurants, and two are in American Samoa. Philippine Food Week runs until October 25, 2025.
Finally, the Consulate General of the Philippines in Honolulu, which is organizing the event, will hold a raffle for two round-trip tickets from Honolulu to Manila. Entries qualify if you spend $20 or more on a Filipino Food Week special at three or more restaurants and upload a photo to Instagram or Facebook. For more details, email honolulupcg.cultural@dfa.gov.ph. Find more details about Philippine Food Week at @Phidedthe Instagram account of the Consulate General of the Philippines.
