    Mysteries of Hawai‘i Ghost Tours

    We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention master storyteller Lopaka Kapanui’s Mysteries of Hawai‘i ghost tours. Though they run all year, the terrifying tours are especially popular during the month of October. Check out the Ghosts of Old Honolulu Tour and Waikīkī Night Marchers Ghost Tour. Just don’t expect any scare tactics or any funny business—whatever happens on the tour is real, err, supernatural.

    Hawai‘i’s Plantation Village is an outdoor museum of historical homes and gardens where you can learn the stories of Hawai‘i’s people. And people swear it’s haunted. Around Halloween, this historic sugar plantation in Waipahu turns into a truly scary site. It’s even been named one of the scariest haunted houses in the world by media and technology company Pop Sugar. But beware, this terrifying attraction is geared toward the bravest souls ages 12 and up. Reservations are required.

    At Hawai‘i School for Girls at La Pietra, keiki can trick or treat their way through candy trails, play carnival games, join the Keiki Spooky Story Circle and brave a haunted house if they so dare (recommended for ages 8 and up)! Costumes are encouraged. Most activities are free, though the haunted house is ticketed, with all proceeds supporting the school’s student council.
